The following are from Mr. Todd Crane.
Todd was a close friend of J.D. McDuffie's and has kindly sent some photos, letters and other remeberiancs of J.D. As I get them ready for the web I will be putting them on these pages.

A Little History
"when JD began racing, the circut was know as Grand National. Winston didn't get involved until 1972, i believe"
"In doing a little research, I find that JD's first race was July 7, 1963, at Myrtle Beach Speedway. Well it is now known as MBS. Then it was Rambi Raceway. The race was the Speedorama 200. JD started 14th, and finished 12th. He had a large "X" on the door as a car #, since the # 70 was already taken for the year by Floyd Powell. JD drove a '61 Ford."

"I was a friend of his and Jeans for years...I used to give them radio plugs when i worked at WPTF radio in Raleigh, NC back in the 60's and 70's....Went to the funeral home and funeral too"
"yes back in the early 70's i worked at TV 11 in Durham NC covering sports and of course NASCAR....when i'd go to the tracks i'd stay in my van at the tracks...and help JD on race day when i was covering the races.....I had a thing in 1969 called IIR for the little guys we had a number of drivers that we would do interviews about a month in advance of their races...and send them out to the tracks for local radio stations... we had JD of course, Frank Warren, Roy Tyner, Johnny Halford, and on and on...of course that was when there were 6 or 7 factory guys "
